At Good News Centre & Church, our mission remains the same as it was in 1987 — to Glorify God.

Our humble beginnings

Good News Centre & Church

In 1987, Mathews and Daisy Varghese arrived in Bhopal with their two-year-old son Ashish, carrying little more than faith in their hearts and a strong call from God to serve this land. Fresh from their theological training, they entered the city with few resources but with a deep conviction that the Lord Himself would open the way. Those first days were simple and unseen by many, yet filled with prayer, hope, and trust in God’s promises. Slowly, they began to witness His hand at work — answering prayers, touching lives, and opening doors for the Gospel.

It all began in the drawing room of their home. There, in the most ordinary of settings, the first believers gathered to worship, pray, and study God’s Word. That small fellowship became the seed of what God was preparing to grow into a church family.

As the gathering grew, the drawing room could no longer contain the worshippers. The fellowship moved to Ravindra Nagar, where they shared space with another congregation. And in time — by God’s grace and provision — a dream took shape. In 2004, the church family dedicated its own building in Misrod, a place set apart for worship, prayer, and reaching the community with Christ’s love.

Today, Good News Centre & Church is more than a building; it is a family of believers. With full-time pastors, devoted volunteers, and a heart to serve, the church hums with life throughout the week — Bible studies, prayer gatherings, youth meetings, women’s ministries, children’s clubs, and one-on-one counselling. From comforting the weary to praying for the sick, from discipling the young to proclaiming the hope of the Gospel, the mission remains just as it was in 1987: to glorify God and make Christ known.

Good News Centre & Church exists to glorify God by advancing the manifestation of His glory in Bhopal and beyond. We seek to see His presence revealed in every life, community, and act of service. Through heartfelt worship, faithful teaching, prayerful discipleship, and compassionate outreach, we aim to nurture spiritual growth that transforms both individuals and the world around them.
